Membership Definitions
If you are retired from DEA or one of its predecessor agencies (FBN, BDAC, ONNI, BNDD or USC) and during that time you served as a GS-1811 then you will be joining as a "Regular Member". If you were never a GS-1811 or if you are currently employed with DEA in any capacity, you are welcome to join as an "Associate Member". The only differences in memberships is an Associate Member pays $35.00 annual dues while a Regular Member pays $50.00 and only Regular Members may vote for or run for election to one of AFFNA's leadership positions.
Regular Membership - shall be open to persons of good moral character who have served for a period of two or more years as a Special Agent of the Drug Enforcement Administration or its predecessor agencies. Candidates must have served with due fidelity to the Special Agent Code of Ethics and with loyalty to the service and their fellow agents.
Associate Membership - shall be open to men and women of good moral character, who formerly served full time, continuously, for a minimum of two years as an employee of DEA or its' predecessor agencies. Additionally, ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP shall also be opened to all active DEA employees who have served honorably for a minimum of two consecutive years.
Note: A non-refundable application fee of $25.00 and the annual dues ($50.00 for Regular Members - $35.00 for Associate Members) must accompany this application. Should Applicant, for any reason not be accepted for membership, the annual dues will be refunded. Annual dues are payable on or before January 1st of each year thereafter.
